PA local taxes just don't register on that scale of pain. I grew up in the county (in NY State) where the property tax burden relative to home value was recently rated 7th highest in the NATION. employees seem to do, and live in Lebanon County. Or one could do what most of the Hershey Co. But one could be paying much higher property taxes and living in the City of Harrisburg.
The local government in Derry Twp responds to the "Entities" and not to its citizens for sure. Then I got the second annual occupation tax bill. I remember when I moved from South Hanover Twp (Hershey postal address, Lower Dauphin schools) to Derry Twp (Hummelstown address ) I was so happy to get my annual occupation tax bill and it was $245 instead of $450.
(Edit: I'm assuming here you're referring to Derry Twp in Dauphin Cty, not the ones in Mifflin, Westmoreland, etc.)
